Wen Soon · Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Financial therapy for high earners who overspend.

You work hard. You make good money. But at the end of the month it somehow feels like it’s all gone — the credit card bill shows up and your stomach sinks:”I swore this month would be different.” You’re not lazy, not broken, and definitely not a failure. You’re stuck in a pattern that’s hard to change alone.

You’re not bad with money

The problem was never willpower

It’s not about budgeting apps or giving up every little joy. Together we’ll explore what’s really driving your spending — the shame, the stress, the”buy now, regret later” cycle — and start building a new story with money: one where you feel relief, hope, and peace.

01

Healing money shame

Untangle self-worth from your net worth. We gently unpack the beliefs and stories about money you’ve carried for years — often long before you started earning.

  • Naming and releasing the belief”I’m a failure.”
  • Understanding the emotional roots of overspending.
  • Learning to separate self-worth from net worth.

Breaking the spending cycle

Identify the emotional triggers behind impulse purchases and”treat yourself” spirals, and build healthier ways to soothe, celebrate, and cope.

  • Noticing triggers that lead to impulse buys.
  • Creating new, compassionate ways to cope with stress or loneliness.
  • Building awareness and control without rigid rules or guilt.

Building financial peace

Move from anxiety and avoidance to calm, confident decisions — so your money supports the life you actually want, without the guilt.

  • Paying off debt step by step with support, not shame.
  • Learning to enjoy spending without regret.
  • Creating a vision for a debt-free, confident, sustainable future.

My approach

Money is emotional. So is the work.

As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, I treat money the way it actually lives in your life — tangled up with childhood, identity, relationships, and self-worth. There’s no lecture and no shame. Three things guide our work together:

  • Language

Words can wound deeply — from subtle”constructive criticism” to things meant to hurt. We notice the unhelpful language you use about money and yourself, and learn kinder ways to respond.

  • Mindfulness

We’ll explore the power of the present moment, cultivating a compassionate awareness that brings peace, resilience, and a deeper connection with yourself.

  • Active listening

At the core of my practice, I value curiosity and understanding. Before we dive into any topic, I take the time to fully grasp your unique experience.

Does this sound familiar?

You might recognise yourself here

“I earn well, but I have almost nothing to show for it — and I don’t know where it goes.”

“Spending gives me a quick high, then a wave of guilt and dread when the statement arrives.”

“I avoid looking at my accounts because the anxiety is too much to face.”

“No matter how much I make, it never feels like enough to feel safe.”
